Sally Henry Memorial Award Winner—1998
Arlene Gryfe

When I first heard Sally Henry speak at a first alumnus meeting at the University of Guelph she struck me a no-nonsense, super organized professional who knew her stuff. Sally kept the audience captivated for an hour and a half with her professional and personal accounts.
Like Sally, the woman who we are honouring this evening shares that same professional no-nonsense manner and is the epitome of organization and efficiency. Apart from her professional persona, she is a real home body, whether knitting a baby outfit or re-fitting her mother's wedding dress for her daughter. She has been known to take apart an electrical appliance to repair it. It is to her dismay that computers lack that take-it-apart and put-it-back together fixability.
Recently she has been very involved with caring for the senior members of her family. She has travelled widely with her husband and has put her organizational skills to to good use at their cottage association taking a leadership role in the politics of that organization. When I first knew this very capable woman she was involved as a store home economist where she was approached for all manner of nutrition information. She was awarded a St. John's Ambulance award for community involvement.
By now, many of you have guessed. The recipient of the Sally Henry Award is our very own Executive Director, Arlene Gryfe. Congratulations Arlene.
