Sally Henry Memorial Award Winner—1997

Stephanie Charron

by Olga Kaminskyj

This year’s deserving winner is Stephanie Charron. Many of us have benefited from Stephanie’s warmth, sincerity, interest, friendship and from her professional expertise and personal activities.

Stephanie has sat on various committees from president to committee member whether as part of a nominating committee or as chair of program planning. She has always been there, with her homework done and ready to listen. And always extremely supportive and her willingness to share is legendary.

Stephanie’s accomplishments are many. She was a charter member of ONE, the Organization for Nutrition Education; was involved with the Canadian Public Health Association, and THEA, to name but some. In addition to her professional memberships as a Home Economist, she is also a certified secondary school teacher. Stephanie has taught English, Home Economics and Family Studies.

Stephanie has no doubt assisted thousands of consumers and fellow professionals, for I have benefited many times from her vast network of connections and considerable knowledge.

In her community, Stephanie is just as generous with her time and expertise. Over the years, she has been very involved with Timothy Eaton Church, with fitness and fellowship, women’s groups, annual congregation dinners, and befriending two Vietnamese refugee families in the ‘80’s.

She has also been very involved with her son Christian’s programs, French immersion and the North York Chapter of ABC (Association for Bright Children).

And let us not forget Jean Marc, her husband who admits that he has stopped keeping track of her accomplishments. May I hasten to add, because there are so many, not because of lack of interest.

On behalf of the Association of Ontario Home Economists in Business, I am delighted to present you with the Sally Henry Memorial Award for 1997. Congratulations!
